Advisor Ladakh reviews apportionment of posts between UT Ladakh and UT J&K and reviews action taken report of school bus accident
Leh, October 21, 2024: The Advisor to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to review the action taken report by the concerned departments regarding the cause of the school bus accident which took place at Durbuk Leh, in which seven persons were killed, and 21 got injured on 22th August 2023.
The meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat Leh.
The meeting discussed several initiatives and actions taken by the concerned departments, regarding the cause of the school bus accident, aimed to submit a full-fledged report to the Supreme Court Committee of Road Safety.
During the review, The Advisor Ladakh emphasized that real time speed detectors be installed which can monitor the speed of the vehicles. He directed the concerned officials to complete it till 30th December. To control the accidents in UT Ladakh, Advisor directed the officials to improve the accidental prone areas, install camera surveillance, go toughest against those who violate the traffic rules.
Meanwhile, the Advisor also chaired a meeting regarding the submission of the action taken report of the minutes of the meeting held on 21- 07- 2023 under the Chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary. The meeting was aimed to review the apportionment related issues between UT Ladakh and UT Jammu and Kashmir.
Administrative Secretary General Administration Department, Michael D’Souza provided a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, covering key issues related to apportionment of posts, assets and liabilities, apportionment of employees, requirement of manpower, apportionment of assets of Corporations / PSUs, Requirement of employees of Autonomous Bodies working in the UT of Ladakh, etc.
During the meeting, it was informed that apportionment of posts has been completed, and as on date, 14,686 employees have been apportioned to the UT of Ladakh. These meetings are continuing since Ladakh was carved out of J&K as a separate UT in 2019. The meeting signifies importance of cooperation and collaboration between the two UTs to effectively resolve pending issues and streamline administrative processes.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar; Director General of Police UT Ladakh; Commissioner/ Secretary PDM UT Ladakh; Commissioner/ Secretary Social and Tribal Welfare UT Ladakh; Commissioner/ Secretary of Health UT Ladakh; Administrative Secretary GAD UT Ladakh; Administrative Secretary Culture and Tourism UT Ladakh; Administrative Secretary Food and Consumer Affairs UT Ladakh; District Magistrate Leh, SSP leh; SSP traffic Leh; Director Finance UT Ladakh; Director of Health; Director of Industries and Commerce; other concerned officials. District Magistrate Kargil, Director of RDD, and other officials joined the meeting virtually.
