GMC Anantnag, Indian Academy of Pediatrics – ALSBLS group organises IAP-ALS Workshop

ANANTANG, OCTOBER 23: In a significant development to improve patient care and academics, National IAP-ALSBLS Trainers have arrived in Anantnag, J&K to provide local pediatricians and pediatric residents acute life support training in a two days structured workshop.


This is the first such kind of a training course being organised in any of the medical colleges of Kashmir region.


IAP-ALS workshop has been organised by Department of Pediatrics GMC Anantnag in collaboration with Indian academy of pediatrics- Acute life support Basic life support (IAP-ALS BLS) group.


Dr Vipul Gupta from GMC Chandigarh is the course Director and Dr Showkat Hussain Tali Associate Professor and Head Department of Pediatrics GMC Anantnag is the course coordinator. The other master national trainers who are faculty for this training course are; Prof. A K Rawat Dean GMC Sagar Madya Pradesh, Prof. Pradeep Dabata VMMC and Safdarjung hospital Delhi, Prof. Shalu Gupta Lady hardinge Medical College Delhi, Dr Suresh Kumar PGI Chandigarh and Dr Pankaj Kumar GMC Chandigarh.


The course is being conducted under the patronage of Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb. Pediatricians and pediatric residents from throughout the Kashmir region have registered for the training course. Prof. Muzaffar Jan, HOD Pediatrics GMC Srinagar, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Charoo Head Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology SKIMS Srinagar, Professor Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad Professor Pediatrics GMC Anantnag, Prof. Reyaz Ahmad Malik, HOD Pediatrics SKIMS MC, Dr Suhail Ahmed Choh, HOD Pediatrics GMC Baramulla, Dr Irshad Bhat HOD Pediatrics GMC Handwara and Dr Mubashir Hassan Shah neonatologist GMC Srinagar were the special guests for the occasion.


The proceedings of the inauguration ceremony were conducted by Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, Head Department of Pediatrics GMC Anantnag.


Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb Principal and Dean GMC Anantnag has congratulated the department of pediatrics for organising such a wonderful and high end workshop and hoped that this workshop will add immensely to the skills of doctors and will greatly contribute towards improving patient care and academics.


She thanked Indian academy of pediatrics for providing master trainers for the workshop and hoped that IAP will be providing support and guidance to GMC Anantnag in future as well in the best interests of patient care and academics.
