Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu hosts the Weekly Journal Club Seminar
Jammu, Ocotober 29: The Centre for Molecular Biology at Central University of Jammu under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, hosted a weekly journal club meeting.
In the meeting, Ms.Mansi, research scholar from CMB delivered an engaging presentation on “A Fair Individualised Poly-social Risk Score for Identifying Increased Social Risk in Type 2 Diabetes.” She delivered an engaging presentation that explored the intricate relationship between genetics and social factors in the context of type 2 diabetes.
Key points included genetic underpinnings of type 2 diabetes, the significant impact of social determinants on health outcomes, and an introduction to the novel individualised polysocial risk score, designed better to identify individuals at increased risk due to social factors. The implications of this research for personalized medicine and public health initiatives.
Attendees participated in a lively discussion following the presentation, highlighting the importance of integrating genetic and social perspectives in diabetes research.
The meeting was coordinated by Dr Sudhir Singh, Assistant Professor and Dr. Fareeda Akhter, Assistant Professor, CMB, CU Jammu. The meeting was attended by students, scholars, and faculty of the Centre. In the meeting, the director of the Centre for Molecular Biology, Dr. Narendra K Bairwa, Associate Professor encouraged students to advance their knowledge and raise awareness.
