Anantnag hosts ‘Run for Unity’ to promote the message of Unity, Integrity & Security of the Country

ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 29: A vibrant ‘Run for Unity’ event was held in Anantnag today as part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.

The event was flagged-off by the Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Yousuf Gorsi and the Deputy Commissioner Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid from Sarnal.

The run concluded at Tika Bagh where the Deputy Commissioner later administered the Unity Pledge to the participants.

Hundreds of enthusiastic participants, including students, youth, and persons from all walks of life took part in the run. The event is a part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations which falls on the 31st October, the birth anniversary of Vallabbhai Patel and celebrates his contributions to the country.

Notably, the union government had announced in the year 2014 to observe 31st October each year as the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The objective was to provide an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.

While administering the Unity Pledge to the participants, the Deputy Commissioner thanked the participants and spoke on the significance of the day.

Notably, more programmes have been planned by various departments in Anantnag to celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and to spread its message.
