DC Reasi flags off “Poshan on Wheels” Van to promote nutrition awareness

REASI, NOVEMBER 16: In a significant step towards improving community awareness about health and nutrition, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan today flagged off the Poshan on Wheels van. The mobile outreach program is designed to disseminate information about various welfare schemes and services offered by the Department of Poshan.


The event was organized by the Poshan team of District Reasi under the leadership of Mohammad Anwar Bandey, District Programme Officer (DPO) Poshan. Key officials who played a pivotal role in the initiative include Shahid Iqbal, CDPO Arnas, Lekha Bhasin, CDPO Pouni, and Suninderjeet Kour, CDPO Reasi.


The DC highlighted the importance of community participation in improving nutrition standards and health outcomes. He commended the Department of Poshan for its proactive efforts to ensure that information about critical government schemes reaches even the remotest areas of the district.


The Poshan on Wheels van is equipped with informational materials, audio-visual tools, and trained personnel to engage with communities effectively.

Through interactive sessions and demonstrations, the campaign aims to educate people about proper nutrition, maternal and child health, immunization, and the benefits of government welfare programs such as the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).


District Programme Officer Mohd Anwar Bandey emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing malnutrition and ensuring that the benefits of these schemes are availed by every eligible beneficiary. He stated that the initiative will cover all blocks of the district, with a special focus on underserved and remote areas.


The Poshan on Wheels initiative is expected to foster a deeper understanding of health and nutrition, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
