Airport Advisory Committee Meeting Held At Jammu

Jammu, 19th November 2024:The Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting was held today at Jammu Airport under the Chairmanship of Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Jammu Constituency, and was attended by Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly. The meeting, convened by Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Airport Director, Jammu, saw active participation from various officials and stakeholders, including senior representatives from the Indian Air Force, J&K Police, Jammu Municipal Corporation, and members of the business and tourism communities.

The Airport Director presented an overview of the airport’s recent achievements, upcoming projects, and operational updates. Highlights included awards for excellence in customer satisfaction and official language implementation, the introduction of new facilities such as UVSS (Under Vehicle Scanning System), IPSS (Integrated Perimeter Security System), Direct Helicopter Services from Jammu Airport to Panchi Helipad, and sustainable infrastructure projects, including solar energy augmentation.

Additionally, the airport’s enhanced connectivity with major cities and operational efficiency were discussed, alongside plans for further expansion.

Key issues deliberated upon during the meeting included traffic management on airport access roads, the need for improved parking facilities, and the expedited completion of the new terminal building, designed to accommodate 4.5 million passengers annually with state-of-the-art facilities. Both MP and MLA praised the efforts of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and airport staff in maintaining high standards and emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges to ensure seamless passenger experience. Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma reiterated the vision of transforming Jammu Airport into a top-tier aviation hub, while Sh. Vikram Randhawa highlighted the need for sustainable and passenger-centric solutions.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Airport Director, reaffirming the commitment to developing Jammu Airport into a premier gateway, catering to the needs of travelers, especially pilgrims visiting MATA VAISHNODEVI JI and BABA AMARNATH JI, and contributing to the region’s overall development.
