DIET Kishtwar organises one day workshop on gender sensitization
KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 19: DIET Kishtwar on Tuesday organized a one day workshop on gender Sensitization for masters and teachers here under the guidance of Principal Prahlad Bhagat.
Sr. Lecturer DIET Dr Nadeem Ul Hassan Gundana, after formally welcoming all the participants, handed over the proceedings of the workshop to Sr. Lecturer DIET Ayoub Humeera – the coordinator of the programme.
Ayoub Humeera conducted the first session on “Incorporation of Gender sensitization in modules and other related issues.” She apprised the participants about the gender equality, gender bias and other relevant things pertaining to the workshop and also aware them about the present day situation regarding the gender related issues.
The second session of the day was conducted by Sr. Lecturer, DIET Riaz Ahmed Butt who explained the rationale behind the conduct of such a workshop. He said that these workshops are an attempt to inculcate the gender sensitivity among the students to make them gender sensitive human beings.
The Principal DIET, in his final address, spoke about the several provisions for women’s safety and explained the importance of Gender based issues. He mentioned how the status of the women since time immemorial has remained secondary, and even in contemporary society the situation is no better as women lack legal literacy.
DIET faculty and participants (trainees) shared their personal experiences and raised many queries on the issues like Women Empowerment, Trans-gender Identity, inequality and gender bias which were answered to their satisfaction by the resource person as well as the Principal DIET.
