CHC Khaltse Celebrates Newborn Week to spread awareness
Khaltse, November 21, 2024: On the concluding day of Newborn Week celebrations at Community Health Center (CHC) Khaltse, a function was organized to spread awareness on newborn care and discuss the theme for the year.
Senior Nurse Yangzom ,steered the program and shared her views on the theme, “Optimising antimicrobial use to prevent antimicrobial resistance.” Dr. Suhani Jamwal, Medical Officer, emphasized the importance of breastfeeding and proper complementary feeding in children.
Dr. Sukanya Choudhry, Medical Officer, discussed the proper use of antibiotics, especially in newborns.
Dr. Spalchen, Pediatrician, talked about newborn care and the SAANS initiative to combat pneumonia. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmad, stressed the importance of celebrating such programs in the future and encouraged staff participation in all national program days.
Amchi Dr. Tsering Angdus discussed the importance of breastfeeding from the perspective of Sowa Rigpa, emphasizing exclusive breastfeeding for six months and continuing it until two years of age. Senior Dental Surgeon Dr. Jorges was also present during the occasion.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Senior Nurse Yangzom.
