Central University of Jammu Student Shines at National Youth Festival, Prajatantra 2024
Jammu, 20 Nov 2024: Jagriti Gupta, a student from the Central University of Jammu, represented Jammu city at the prestigious National Youth Festival, Prajatantra 2024: Celebrating City Governance in India, held at the Directorate, Urban Local Bodies, Lucknow. This remarkable competition was organized by the Praja Foundation in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and UN-Habitat India.
The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), India’s leading think tank on urban planning and development under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), joined forces with UN-Habitat, a United Nations agency promoting sustainable urban development, to make this event a success.
The competition witnessed over 2,000 registrations from 418 teams, representing 102 cities and towns across 28 states and 7 Union Territories. Following a rigorous selection process, 124 participants from 22 states and 2 Union Territories advanced to the Grand Finale.
Jagriti Gupta from Central University of Jammu, showcased exemplary skills and dedication, qualifying through two challenging online rounds to reach the Grand Finale. Competing against top talents from across the nation, Jagriti earned the prestigious Silver Medal in the Mayor’s Speech category.
Beyond the competition, the participants had the enriching opportunity to visit the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, gaining firsthand insight into the role of citizen participation as the cornerstone of a thriving democracy.
This achievement highlights the talent and commitment of the students of the Central University of Jammu, reinforcing their role in shaping the future of democratic governance in India.
