“Real gaddari was in 2019, not 2022,” says Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 23 (ANI): As the Mahayuti alliance is poised to win the assembly elections IN mAHARASHTRA, Shiv Sena leader Milind Deora said on Friday that the results confirm the “real gaddari (betrayal),” was in 2019. He also said the trending results show Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s leadership and vision.
Celebrating the results being in favour of the Mahayuti alliance, he posted on X, “Key takeaways from #Mumbai so far: 1- CM @mieknathshinde (Eknath Shinde) has proven his leadership & vision for #Maharashtra; 2 -Voters chose ‘progress without speed limits’ over ‘speed breaker’ politics; 3- The real gaddari was in 2019, not 2022; 4 Hope always triumphs over fear!”
In the post, he also compared the Maha Vikas Agadhi’s politics as ‘speed breaker’ politics, contrasting it to Mahayuti’s ‘progress without speed limits.’
Referencing the ‘betrayal’, in 2022, Eknath Shinde, then a minister in Uddhav Thackery led undivided Shiv Sena broke away from the party along with multiple other MLAs, and joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party and later on Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) to form the government in the state and subsequently toppling the Thackeray led MVA government formed in 2019.
However, even as the Mahayuti alliance is poised for a landslide victory by leading in more than 200 seats, Milind Deora himself is trailing in Worli constituency. He contested against Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Aditya Uddhav Thackeray, who is leading by more than 9 thousand votes.
Earlier, BJP’s Prakash Javadekar said that the results of the assembly election were ‘expected’ and that the people have reposed their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“The people of Maharashtra have reposed their faith in PM Modi’s leadership, like the rest of the country. They voted for the politics of development. People saw two governments within 5 years…In the 2.5 years of the ‘Black’ government, no development work was done, and all work was stopped. In these 2.5 years, welfare politics for all sections were done, development works were done, and infrastructure was developed. So, people voted for us,” Javadekar said.
