DM Kishtwar inspects District Jail, addresses inmate concerns
KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 8: District Magistrate, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, conducted a thorough inspection of the District Jail to review its logistics, security arrangements and overall functioning today.
During the visit, the District Magistrate interacted with inmates to understand their grievances and evaluate their living conditions. The inmates shared concerns about living conditions, access to information and recreation besides other issues.
The DM assured the inmates that their genuine concerns would be addressed at the earliest. He emphasised the strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as outlined in the jail manual and reiterated that inmates have the right to voice their grievances, which would be resolved in a timely manner.
Directing the Jail Superintendent to ensure the welfare of inmates, the DM stressed the importance of hygienic meal preparation and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. He also underscored the need for daily newspapers and library books to support the inmates’ access to information and educational resources.
