Deputy Commissioner Poonch reviews progress of Jal Jeevan Mission Projects
Calls for urgent action to accelerate Water Supply Projects
POONCH, DECEMBER 10: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects in the district, focusing on both physical and financial achievements.
The meeting, held in the conference hall of the DC Office Complex, began with updates from the XEN Jal Shakti Department and the SE Jal Shakti, detailing the status of 132 Public Health Engineering (PHE) schemes across the sub-divisions of Poonch, Mendhar, and Surankote. Of these, 30 schemes have been completed, while the remaining projects are currently underway.
Discussions centered around ongoing water supply schemes, Deputy Commissioner directing executing agencies to expedite their efforts to meet project deadlines. He emphasized the necessity of conducting on-site inspections to ensure work quality and to identify barriers hindering progress.
Highlighting the JJM as a flagship initiative aimed at providing water access to all households, the DC urged officers to collaborate effectively to facilitate the smooth execution of projects. He stressed the importance of cooperation between the Jal Shakti Department, contractors, and other stakeholders to address any challenges faced.
The Deputy Commissioner concluded by underscoring a focused, target-driven approach to complete projects within specified timelines. Various issues that could impede the swift completion of projects were discussed, with a clear instruction for timely completion and goal achievement under the mission.
