JKEDI organizes Entrepreneurship Orientation Program for students of IUST

Students interact with star entrepreneurs, gain real time exposure


PULWAMA, DECEMBER 12: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Thursday organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness program cum interaction for the students of Department of Economics, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST).


The interaction program focused on providing the exposure related to J&K Startup Policy 2024-27 and the development of the startup ecosystem in the U.T of Jammu and Kashmir.


During their visit, the students interacted with the faculty members and experts at JKEDI who briefed the students about the evolving startup scenario, business plan modeling, DPR formulation, capacity building and providing financial and market linkage including handholding and mentorship support to the aspiring entrepreneurs.


The students were briefed about various verticals of JKEDI and their functions. The role of entrepreneurship as a career choice was also discussed during the visit.


The students interacted with two star entrepreneurs of Jammu and Kashmir, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani and Mir Faizan who shared their entrepreneurial journey and the challenges faced by them before achieving success.


Later, the students participated in the question answer session and put forth their understanding of various topics related to startups and entrepreneurship.


The students were accompanied by Prof. S.M Shafi (Head, Department of Economics), Dr. Shumila Cheshti (Assistant Professor, Economics and Departmental Industry Connect Coordinator), Dr. Javid Ahmad Khan (Assistant Professor, Economics), Dr. Irfan Ahmad Sofi (Assistant Professor, Economics) and Dr. Abdul Hamid Mir (Assistant Professor, Economics).


The program was organized by the Centre for New Enterprise Creation (CNEC) and Centre for Business Development (CBD), a program vertical of JKEDI.


On behalf of IUST Awantipora the visit was conducted under the aegis of Industrial Connect Vertical of Dean Outreach, IUST. The EOP cum interaction programme was a part of JKEDI’s continued approach towards familiarizing the school students with entrepreneurship as a career choice and enhancing their overall knowledge about the role of startups in shaping the future.
