Mission Vatsalya conducts awareness program on Child Protection Laws at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 14: An awareness program focusing on child protection laws and the rights of children was organized today by the Mission Vatsalya (Social Welfare), Ganderbal, at Qamaria Model Higher Secondary Institute.


The event aimed to sensitize participants about the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and the overall importance of safeguarding child rights.


The program witnessed the active participation of members from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Ganderbal, officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Childline (1098) Ganderbal, teachers, and students from the host institution.


Key speakers included Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care), CWC Member, Pareesha, Superintendent of the Children’s Home and an official from Childline (1098).


Each speaker emphasized the critical need to create a safe and nurturing environment for children and provided insights into the legal frameworks and support systems available for their protection.


The session also highlighted the role of educational institutions, community members, and welfare organizations in combating child rights violations and ensuring the welfare of children in the district.


The awareness program concluded with an interactive session where students and teachers actively engaged with the speakers, discussing real-life scenarios and measures to address child protection concerns effectively.
