Road safety enforcement drive carried at Anantnag
ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 16: In a major step towards improving road safety, an extensive enforcement operation was today carried out in Anantnag.
The drive aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, led to the issuance of numerous e-challans for various traffic violations.
The operation focused on key compliance areas including the verification of route permits, inspection for unauthorized vehicle modifications, and the installation and functioning of speed governors. These measures are crucial for regulating driving speeds and minimizing the risk of accidents.
During the enforcement drive, Rs 34,000 was collected on-site from violators. An additional Rs 74,000 is expected to be collected as a result of the ongoing operation. The team also discovered several serious violations, resulting in the recommendation for the suspension of six driving licenses.
This decisive action reflects the department’s commitment to upholding traffic regulations and promoting responsible driving behavior.
The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) emphasized that such drives will continue as part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related incidents. The department remains focused on ensuring the safety of all road users in the region.
