Awareness camp on prevention of sexual harassment at workplace held at Ganderbal
GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 21: In a concerted effort to promote gender equity and safeguard women’s rights in professional spaces, the Department of Social Welfare and Sankalp Hub for Women Empowerment of women Ganderbal in collaboration with the One Stop Centre (OSC), and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, organized a comprehensive awareness camp on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the workplace .
The event, held at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal, witnessed the presence of Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Ganderbal, DSWO and was attended by female employees representing various government departments across the district.
Advocate Tanveer Ahmad from DLSA delivered an erudite presentation elucidating the legal nuances of the POSH Act, underscoring its pivotal role in fostering a secure and respectful workplace environment.
His address highlighted the statutory obligations of employers and the mechanisms in place to redress grievances effectively.
The Centre Administrator of the OSC provided an in-depth exposition on the functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Local Complaints Committee (LCC), integral to the implementation of the POSH Act.
She also shed light on the SHe-Box, an innovative online grievance redressal platform instituted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to streamline the reporting and resolution of workplace harassment complaints.
The program concluded with an engaging interactive session, wherein participants actively deliberated on challenges and solutions pertaining to workplace harassment.
The initiative was widely lauded as a transformative step toward cultivating a culture of dignity, safety, and inclusivity for women in professional domains across Ganderbal.
