Congress should offer unconditional apology to nation for the disrespect shown to Babasaheb Ambedkar: Sunil Sharma

JAMMU, December 24: Congress should offer an unconditional apology to the entire nation for the disrespect shown to Babasaheb Ambedkar by its leaders and Pandit Nehru, stated Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition, J&K Legislative Assembly while addressing a Press Conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition, J&K Legislative Assembly & General Secretary, J&K BJP was accompanied by Shakti Raj Parihar, MLA & Vice-President, J&K BJP and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA & General Secretary, J&K BJP. Balbir Ram Rattan, former VC and Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Secretary, J&K BJP were also present on the occasion.

Suni Sharma said that whenever a Minister resigns from the Council, they are given an opportunity to speak in the House. However, after Dr. Ambedkar’s resignation, he was not allowed to address the House. In his resignation letter, Babasaheb Ambedkar expressed strong criticism of then PM Jawaharlal Nehru. This is why the Congress never made Babasaheb’s resignation letter public.

The Congress party has consistently disrespected, mocked and humiliated Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, and it has always been anti-Ambedkar.

The Congress Party never awarded Babasaheb the Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, or Padma Shri. However, they honoured Narayan Sadooba Kajrolkar, who had defeated Babasaheb in an election, with the Padma Bhushan. Pt Nehru had also campaigned in Kajrolkar’s favour. This highlights the true nature of the Congress Party.

Rahul Gandhi pushed and shoved, causing MPs to fall and get injured, even requiring hospitalization, shows the mindset of Congress party which has resorted to physical means after failing in debates.

In Madhya Pradesh, during BJP Chief Minister Shri Sundarlal Patwa’s tenure, a memorial was constructed at Babasaheb’s birthplace. Former Prime Minister Shri Chandrashekhar had approved land for the Ambedkar Center in Delhi, but the Congress party prevented its construction. Ambedkar Center was completed only under Narendra Modi government. The Modi government also created a memorial in London where Babasaheb lived, established a memorial at his residence in Delhi and developed memorials at Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru wrote a letter to Edwina Mountbatten expressing his relief at Babasaheb Ambedkar no longer being in the Cabinet. A party with such a mindset and history now claiming to honor Babasaheb is utterly shameful. The Congress party must put an end to this hypocrisy.

The way Pandit Nehru and other Congress leaders mistreated and insulted Babasaheb Ambedkar (with documented evidence to support it) demands an unconditional apology from the Congress.

The Congress is now trying to politicize a small excerpt from Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah’s speech by presenting it out of context. However, the people of this nation are perceptive and see through such tactics. These attempts by the Congress are destined to fail.
