J&K Congress intensifies protest against Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr BR Ambedkar 

Congress won’t tolerate attempts to tarnish image of Dr. Ambedkar, says Hari Singh Chib

Jammu, Dec 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today intensified its protest against Home Minister Amit Shah’s controversial remarks against the Father of Indian Constitution Dr. B.R Ambedkar. The protest, led by Hari Singh Chib, Vice President of JKPCC, witnessed a gathering of Congress workers near the Police Station Janipur in the Jammu North Assembly segment. 

The protest saw Congress workers raising slogans condemning the remarks and expressing solidarity with the ideals of Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Speaking to the media persons here, Hari Singh Chib strongly criticized the statements made by the Home Minister during a Constitution debate in the Rajya Sabha. “Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. BR Ambedkar undermine the dignity and legacy of one of India’s greatest leaders. Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to shaping modern India and empowering marginalized sections of society remain unparalleled,” Chib asserted.

The senior Congress leader demanded an unconditional apology from Amit Shah, emphasizing the need for accountability from leaders holding high offices. He further called for the Home Minister’s resignation, stating, “Such remarks are not only disrespectful to the Father of the Indian Constitution but also an insult to the democratic values he stood for.” 

The protesting Congress workers vowed to continue its protest until the Home Minister issues a formal apology and takes responsibility for his statements.

Hari Singh Chib also urged people across Jammu and Kashmir to join the Congress in defending the dignity of national icons and preserving the values enshrined in the Constitution.  “The Congress party will never tolerate attempts to tarnish the image of a visionary leader like Dr. BR Ambedkar. We will remain steadfast in upholding his legacy and fighting for justice,” he added.
