DC Poonch reviews working of RDD Department
POONCH, JANUARY 08: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Wednesday convened a meeting to assess the physical and financial progress of the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
At the outset, the Assistant Commissioner Development provided an overview of the current status of ongoing projects spearheaded by RDD Poonch.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of community involvement, directing all Block Development Officers to ensure that construction work plans receive the consent of the Gram Sabha, in accordance with resolutions from the Panchayat Secretary.
The Deputy Commissioner urged officers to enhance implementation under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He stressed the necessity of conducting Gram Sabha meetings every 15 days to foster community participation in developmental activities.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the department to prioritize completion of ongoing projects before initiating new ones. He called for improved physical performance under the convergence scheme and directed the preparation of a line listing of pending cases under the ABPS.
The BDOs were instructed to ensure completion of the capex plan 2024-25 projects within the stipulated time frame to prevent the lapse of funds.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need to meet the target of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing projects and encouraged the BDOs to accelerate the works to provide early benefit to the beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner firmly stated that any negligence in work execution would result in strict action against underperforming officers.
