Baramulla’s young Karate stars shine bright at National stage

Deputy Commissioner honors medalists for making J&K, home district proud


BARAMULLA, JANUARY 11: Baramulla’s young karate champions, aged 7-10 years, were honored by DC Baramulla, Minga Sherpa at his office here, following their stellar performance in the JKS South Asia Karate Championship 2025 held in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.


These budding athletes brought pride to the district by winning 3 gold medals and a bronze medal, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication.


Their journey to success began in 2024 when they participated in the 1st North India Karate Championship in Jammu, securing 4 gold medals and the prestigious Best Discipline Award for their exemplary sportsmanship and commitment.


Speaking on the occasion, the DC expressed pride in their achievements, stating, “This is a proud moment for the district. I assure you that every possible facility will be made available to these young stars so they can compete not only at the national level but also at the international stage.


Balancing academics with their passion for karate, these young champions have set a benchmark for others, proving that determination and hard work can lead to exceptional success. The DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to support local talent and fostering excellence in sports.
