Launches 2 day national conference on ‘Mathematical Sciences and Applications’ at GDC Samba
Inaugurates new Academic Block, Library’s RFID unit, canteen at College
SAMBA, JANUARY 17: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today inaugurated a two day national conference on ‘Mathematical Sciences and Applications’ at Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College (GDC), Samba here.
MLA Samba, Surjeet Singh Slathia, MLA Chadoora, Ali Mohd Dar, MLA Zainpora, Showkat Ahmed, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Shantmanu, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Rajesh Sharma, Director Colleges, Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Deans of Cluster University, Principals from various colleges of Jammu division and large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the transformative power of education and appreciated the intellectual exchanges during these conferences. “Conferences like these provide an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, fostering research and building collaborative networks that contribute to academic and practical advancements of our region”, Sakeena said.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment towards advancing education and research, encouraging the institution to continue its pursuit of excellence. “The government envisions an education system that is inclusive, research-oriented and aligns with global standards. Initiatives are being taken as per NEP-2020 to strengthen infrastructure, introduce innovative teaching methods and promote interdisciplinary research,” she stated.
The Minister assured full support to the college for quality upgrading both in academia and infrastructural development.
In his address, MLA Samba, Surjit Singh Salathia, appreciated the efforts of the college in organising an insightful conference.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Chief Secretary HED, highlighted the pivotal role of mathematics in technological innovation and problem-solving.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Colleges lauded the conference for fostering collaboration among the scholars.
Conference Coordinator, Professor Narayan Dutt, while introducing the theme of conference, emphasised the role of mathematics in technological advancement, while Dr. A.P. Singh, Professor Emeritus, in his keynote address, underscored the urgency of mathematical applications in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
On the occasion, the Minister also released Conference Abstract Book, College Magazine ‘Basantar’, Viksit Bharat Magazine ‘Yuva Drishti’, IQAC Newsletter ‘Saarthi’ and PRAVAD Electoral Literacy Club’s Newsletter ‘Niti Nerd’.
Notably, the conference featured 80 research papers and poster presentations across varied themes like mathematical analysis, applied mathematics, computational mathematics, mathematical physics and algebra with 135 participants from various institutions.
Later, on the sidelines of the Conference, Sakeena Itoo inaugurated new academic block for the college as well as RFID unit in library, making it fully automated and college canteen to be run under Umeed scheme by female Self Help Groups.
