Know all about Rajouri mysterious deaths


JAMMU, 20 Jan: With the Centre expert teams from the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Chemicals, Fertilizers and Water Resources on the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah arriving in Rajouri to probe the mysterious deaths, the locals are heaving the sigh of relief.

As of now, 17 lives have been claimed since December 2024 with the last of sixth child of Mohd Aslam.

It is pertinent to mention that the spree of deaths began on 7th December 2024 wherein Fazal Hussain and his and his family members kicked the bucket along with his children. The spate of deaths continued on 12th December 2024 wherein Mohd Rafiq and his children and wife passed away. The third incident occurred on 12th January 2025 resulting in the demise of Mohd Aslam’s six children and parents. 

Apart from the blame game, NC-led Government helmed by CM Omar Abdullah directed the authorities to expedite the investigation when the cause of deaths was not ascertained. Omar Abdullah held a high-level meet with the cabinet officials in view of the Rajouri deaths.   

LG Manoj Sinha said that the efforts are in progress to ascertain the cause of deaths with expert team to crack the mysterious deaths. Every important information will rolled out soon and most important information pertaining to deaths will be in public said Manoj Sinha on the mysterious deaths.

Deputy CM Surinder Singh Choudhary visited Rajouri’s Budhal village and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and asked people to rest the worrisome at bay.

Surinder Singh Choudhary promised thorough investigation into the matter.    

Health Minister Sakina Itoo had said, “In the wake of mysterious deaths in Rajouri said health check-ups of over 3,000 people was conducted and no virus has been detected. Investigation by Police is in progress adding HODs, Director Health Services, Asha Workers and other paramedical staff have been involved to ensure proper health check-ups.”

Arun Gupta Spokesperson J&K BJP lashed out at National Conference Government and said regional insensitivity is unacceptable. In view of mysterious Rajouri deaths he chaired a press conference and severely reprimanded the NC for showing negligence towards the issue. He said finally Central Government had to intervene and come forward to tackle the issue which the UT Government failed to address.

According to sources, the deaths have been caused owing to neurotoxins. The authorities found that the water tested positive for some pesticides and insecticides.
