Market checking to get intensified across all tehsils in Kupwara
Rs.4300 imposed on erring shopkeepers during market checking
KUPWARA, JANUARY 21: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, M Rouf Rahman, constituted a team of officers headed by Tehsildar Kupwara who conducted market checking in several markets of Kupwara town.
During the market checking, a fine of Rs.4300 was imposed on the erring shopkeepers resorting to unfair trade practices including hoarding and black marketing.
Some expired food items were also destroyed under norms during the inspection. Shopkeepers were sensitized about food standards, licenses, Rate lists, and were warned about strict action under law for resorting to hoarding, black marketing, sale of expired items and other unscrupulous practices.
Meanwhile, the ADC Kupwara impressed upon all the Tehsildars of District Kupwara to intensify the market checking in all Tehsils immediately and continue it till the enforcement of rates and availability of food items is streamlined. He directed them to ensure no overcharging is done or sub standard food items are sold in the market.
The violators are warned to desist from malpractices and adhere to the rules and regulations, otherwise strict action will be taken which can extend to fine, imprisonment and sealing of shops.
