Pawan Sharma praises Centre’s security measures, condemns Omar Abdullah for politicizing tragic incidents
Pawan Sharma, senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir and Prabhari of District Doda, commended the central government’s efforts to strengthen the security grid and defense mechanism in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the recent high-level security review meeting convened by Hon’ble Home Minister Sh. Amit Shah represents a positive development towards ensuring robust security preparedness in the region.
Sharma highlighted the effectiveness of security measures, citing the recent incident in the Battal sector of Poonch district, where five intruders were neutralized after stepping on landmines before entering Indian territory. He observed that the apprehension of security forces among terrorists is apparent, as they promptly retrieved the bodies of their fallen comrades. He further stated that the central government has granted security forces operational autonomy, thereby enabling them to manage security matters without unwarranted political interference.
Sharma strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP leader Iltija Mufti for politicizing the unfortunate incidents in Billawar and Baramulla, where a young boy reportedly died by suicide and another lost his life due to army firing while attempting to evade a security checkpoint.
While extending his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, he denounced Omar Abdullah’s attempt to generalize these incidents with malicious intent to target security forces. He urged the CM to refrain from engaging in such politically motivated tactics and concentrate on working towards finding solutions to other pressing issues of public concern.
