With each new game release, one burning question remains on players’ minds: Will this game support crossplay?r

For fans of EA Sports’ UFC fighter series, this question was no different. Many eagerly wondered whether they would be able to fight opponents across platforms in UFC 5. Given the rising demand for cross-platform compatibility, the anticipation was understandable. So, does UFC 5 support crossplay? Can players battle it out across different platforms? And is the game available on older-generation consoles?

In this post, Kate Richardson, will discuss these questions and try to answer these questions and everything you need to know about UFC 5’s MMA cross-platform capabilities and console availability.

Is UFC 5 Crossplay Platform?

Since EA Sports confirmed that UFC 5 deluxe edition and standard edition would be released back in October 24 and October 27 respectively, one of the most common questions players have continued to ask is whether the game supports cross platform play.

This is because the gaming industry is facing rapid development and modern games are now embracing the tact of uniting gamers across platforms. So, most players want to know if EA Sports’ latest UFC title would be able to follow this new trend. However, the answer to this question remains that, as of now, UFC 5 will not be able to support cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox. Since most games allows PS5 and Xbox series X|S to compete online, we will not be seeing it with this title.

Does UFC 5 Support Cross-Platform Play between PS5 and Xbox Series X?

With the new trend of cross play on new gen games many players also want to know if it is possible to play the 5th edition of the UFC game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Since they are both flagship gaming consoles, one would expect that they should be able to allow players compete against each other online.

However, players can compete against each other on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We have to understand that this is majorly an issue with the game developers rather than the game console. This is mostly because EA Sports designed the game to be tailored to individual consoles.

However, players have to understand that with the release of a newer title in the franchise, it is possible that the cross play feature would be available. As it is a trend that has built a bridge between players on either side of the gaming divide.

Which Platforms is UFC 5 Available On?

In late 2020, Sony and Microsoft released their next gen consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S to the public. Since then, it has been a race by game developers to release their newest titles on these platforms. However, what this meant was that old generation consoles were becoming left out in the frenzy as the newer models had much more capabilities.

So this led to questions like, which platforms will players be able to access UFC 5 game. Well, the answer is that players can only access the game on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, there may be a change in the near future. So we can also expect significant improvements in gameplay. The developer has always strived to provide a realistic and immersive experience in its sports games, and this game is no exception.

As we know, the UFC 5 franchise is literally a replica of real MMA fights. So, maybe EA Sports can take it a step further and introduce more real life content like betting and sports betting bonuses to make it more interesting. This is sure to take the game to the players and make it more engaging while also opening a revenue stream for the developers. Especially since in-game betting deposits could bring about more profitability. Well, while they think about these ideas, and since betting isn’t a part of the game, you can take the opportunity to explore it on your own. A good place to start is MightyTips, where you can find top bookmakers, see full list of online payment methods, and betting tips that will help you win big and not be left out.

However, players who are still on old generation consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One have been left out. And this reminds one of what Ron Carmel, Co-founder of 2D said, “Let’s optimize for player experience rather than what we think will make more money.” But hey! Development is key.

Why is UFC 5 Not Available on Old-Generation Consoles?

So, what happens to players who are still on older consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Why wouldn’t they be able to play the UFC 5? Well, the reason behind releasing the game for just the new gen consoles was due to the improved technology in their build. These new consoles are built with better processors and graphics, and would be best suited for what EA Sports had planned for the new UFC franchise. Especially since the UFC game was designed on a new engine, Frostbite which was supposed to make the gameplay much more smooth and hyper-realistic. According to Nate McDonald, Lead Producer of UFC 5, he said “Frostbite and the Real Impact System are game changers, and when combined with the debuts of Cinematic K.O. Replay, Seamless Submissions, and a real-world powered Fight Week experience, UFC 5 is as real as it gets.” So basically, the reason it wasn’t released on old gen was because EA Sports wanted to take the game’s realism and performance to the next level. And this was only possible on next gen consoles due to their much more sophisticated hardware.
