GDC Samba and GDC Hiranagar collaborate to celebrate National Science Day

Samba:- Sat Paul Sharma (28-2-25) The innovation and incubation cells of SPPND (Pt. Prem Nath Dogra GDC Samba and GLDM (Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial) GDC Hiranagar collaboratively organized a two-day event to commemorate National Science Day. National Science Day is celebrated to mark the discovery of Raman effect by Dr. C. V. Raman, the first scientist of India who won Nobel Prize in 1930 in the field of Physics. The event aligned with the theme for this year ‘Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat’ emphasising the role of young minds in advancing India’s scientific and technological progress.

The event showcased demonstrations of science models created by 27 students from different schools from district Samba.

While gracing the occasion as chief guest, Principal GDC Samba Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri exhorted the importance of nurturing a scientific temperament and lauded the collaborative efforts of both the colleges in promoting scientific inquiry. She highlighted that such events provide a platform for students to translate theoritical knowledge into practical innovations, thereby contributing to nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat. Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna, Principal Hiranagar, while speaking as guest of honour, emphasized the critical role of science in daily life and inspired the students to pursue career in scientific research and innovation.

Students displayed a diverse array of scientific models reflecting their creativity and understanding of scientific principles. This collaborative celebration not only honoured a significant milestone but also inspired students to pursue innovation and research, aligning with India’s aspiration to become a global leader in science and technology.

Esteemed judges Dr. Poonam Kamotra, Dr. Ramkrishan from GDC Hiranagar, Prof. Rashi Gupta and Prof. Mala Bhasin from GDC Samba evaluated the models. From GDC Samba, Suvidha Sambyal got first position, Vansh Bhandari got second and Narayan, Ankit and Vansh claimed the third prize.
