Deva Ending Explained: Who Killed Rohan?

Deva hit the big screen this year on January 31, 2025. It’s the remake of the 2013 blockbuster Malayalam blockbuster movie Mumbai Police. 

The interesting part is that this movie is directed by the same director, Rosshan Andrrews. However, the climax of both movies makes them different from each other.

Deva Ending Explained

The cop-action entertainer starts with visibly stunned Shahid Kapoor’s Dev breaking the news to his DCP friend, Farhan (Pravessh Rana), that he has cracked the case by identifying the murderer of his friend, Rohan (Pavail Gulatie). 

At the same time, he gets injured in an accident and suffers from amnesia. In the flashback, Mumbai Police is on the run to catch a gangster named Prashant Jadhav (Manish Wadhwa).

In a scene, the police are given the address of Jadhav, which is a trap. This puts everyone on edge that there is an informer of Jadhav working for the Mumbai Police. However, Rohan never gives up chasing Jadhav, and while they are fighting, Dev shows up and shoots Jadhav.

Dev requests Rohan to accept the credit, which he grudgingly does, and is awarded at a ceremony on Maharashtra Day. A couple of minutes into his acceptance speech, he is killed by an unknown sniper.

Who Killed Rohan And Why?

Lately, Rohan found out that Dev has been working as a spy for Jadhav all this while. He killed the gangster not really to save his friend but to eliminate the real evidence against him.

After finding out the truth, Rohan starts threatening Dev to reveal the truth about what he did to everyone. This is when Dev decides to kill Rohan.

Dev plans his murder and arranges a sniper rifle before Maharashtra Day. He installs the tripod and the gun in such a way that he can shoot Rohan remotely from his phone.

Then the movie shifts to the first scene, where Dev is shown guilty for Rohan’s murder. Because Dev later found out that Rohan was actually going to credit him for Jadhav’s encounter and forgive him for all his past deeds.

But Dev was scared that his real side would be exposed, and that’s why he killed Rohan. 

Later he feels guilty and surrenders to Farhan. Then six months later, Dev is shown in a prison, with a bunch of prisoners. As the prisoners gang up together and attract the police officers, Dev jumps in and helps the officers.

And this is how the movie ends!
