“Country will progress through women empowerment”: Ramdas Athawale on Women’s Day

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], March 8 (ANI): Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Saturday extended greetings of International Women’s Day and said that the country will progress and become empowered only when the women are empowered.

The Union Minister also lauded the Delhi government’s approval of the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ to provide Rs 2,500 to women in the national capital.

“Today, on the occasion of Women’s Day, I congratulate women across the country. The country will be empowered only when women are empowered. Prime Minister Modi’s government is making continuous efforts for women’s empowerment. It is great that the Delhi government has decided to provide Rs 2,500 to the women of Delhi under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana,” Athawale told ANI.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal praised the event of International Women’s Day at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.

He commended President Droupadi Murmu for her words at the event and said, “On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a very good program was organised at Vigyan Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the program and she very rightly said that mother is the first teacher and she has a very important role in character building.”

After the Delhi government approved the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ to provide Rs 2,500 to women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said that the committee has been formed and registration for the scheme will begin soon.

“Today is Women’s Day. We had our cabinet meeting today, and our cabinet has approved the scheme – the promise that we made during the Delhi elections to provide Rs 2,500 to the women. We made a provision of Rs 5100 crores in the Delhi budget for the implementation of the scheme. We have formed the committee, which will be led by me and the registration for the scheme will begin soon – a portal will be launched soon,” Gupta told reporters.

Earlier today, Union Minister and BJP president JP Nadda announced the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, a direct cash transfer scheme for Delhi’s women.

Addressing a public event on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the national capital, Nadda said that the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, to give Rs 2,500 to women in Delhi, has been approved today.

Today, I am happy, and I congratulate CM Rekha Gupta and others on allocating Rs 5100 crore to implement the Mahila Samriddhi Yojan in Delhi,” Nadda further said.

President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday inaugurated a National Conference on the theme ‘Nari Shakti Se Viksit Bharat’ in New Delhi. She said that this day was to honour women’s achievements, raise awareness of their rights, and dedicate ourselves to promoting gender equality.

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development organised this conference to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Speaking on the occasion, the President greeted fellow citizens and said that this day is an occasion to honour women’s achievements, raise awareness of their rights, and dedicate ourselves to promoting gender equality.

President Murmu said that as India moves towards becoming the third-largest economy in the world, the participation of women in the country’s workforce should increase rapidly.

The President said that a developed India could be built only on the strength of self-reliant, self-esteemed, independent and empowered women.
