K Drama: Friendly Rivalry Ending Explained
Inspired by a Webtoon, Friendly Rivalry is a thriller K-Drama full of suspense and twists.
The drama starts when an Orphan named Woo Seul-Gi, played by Chung Su-Bin, who was raised in the countryside, gets transferred to a prestigious institution, Chaehwa High School, located in Seoul.
There, she meets Yoo Jae-I, played by Lee Hye-Ri, who is a wealthy and top student at Chaehwa High School. Woo Seul-Gi faces a lot of struggles adjusting to the new environment; she gets bullied and finds it hard to fit in.
Despite facing so many hurdles in the new school, she finds Yoo Jae-I strangely nicer towards her. Slowly, Woo Seul-Gi finds out all the dirty secrets about the school. Everything around her starts to get more suspicious, and her relationship with Yoo Jae-I starts to get more complex.

Ending of Friendly Rivalry
The final episode starts with a flashback of Woo Seul-G’s time on the springboard. Having no idea how to swim, she threatens Jae-I to speak to her, or she will jump into the pool.
Back to the present, determined to bring the truth of her father’s wrong Jae-I along with Seul-G makes a plan to expose him.
Jae-I, being completely aware of her father’s intentions, suspects foul play from her father. She asks Seul-G to execute plan B.
Deciding not to let Jae-I distract her, Seul-G asks her to focus on the entrance exam. Jae-I ends up passing the exam with a top score and Seul-G ends up dropping out.
As Byeong-jin is in an interview, Ja-yi decides to attempt suicide by jumping off a building along with Je-na and livestreaming it. After the livestream, everything gets so chaotic, and a search party is sent to find the girls.
Ultimately, Byeong-jin confesses all his crimes and surrenders to the police. Seul-G is still staying with the stepmother.
The drama wraps with Jae-I being shown alive, and she secretly contacts Seu-G.

Will There Be A Second Season Of Friendly Rivalry?
Although the team has not confirmed anything regarding season 2, the ending plot of the drama makes it a high possibility. The characters of the drama have given an open and happy ending but the whereabouts of Jae-I are still unknown. This makes it a perfect plot for the next season.
