Central University of Jammu successfully concluded Five-Day FDP on “Indian Strategic Thought and Warfare- Indian Knowledge System”
Jammu, March 21: The Department of National Security Studies, Central University of Jammu, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, successfully organised the Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on the theme “Indian Strategic Thought and Warfare-Indian Knowledge System”from 17th to 21st March, 2025. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Uttam Kumar Jamadhagni on 17th March 2025. Eminent subject experts and military personnel associated with academia shared their expertise and experiences with the participants.

The event started with an insightful lecture by Prof. Jamadhagni on Ancient India’s Maritime Might which was followed by Lt. Gen. (Dr.) J. S. Cheema (Retd) who elaborated on the key aspects of Kautilya Arthashastra. On the second day, Prof. Meena Dutta and Group Captain (Dr.) A. V. Chandrasekharan (Retd) presented their special lectures on Strategic Issues in Defence Policy and Military Strategies derived from the Mahabharata and Ramayana respectively. The proceedings of the third day featured a notable session with Maj. Gen. Manjeet Singh Mokha (Retd) and Maj. Gen. Amarjeet Singh (Retd) both sharing their thoughts on India’s Strategic Culture and Strategic thought.
On the penultimate day, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) J. S. Cheema (Retd) deliberated on India’s Strategic culture since Independence and Prof. Jaskaran Singh Waraich highlighted the significance of Kautilya Arthashastra in Indian Strategic culture. On the last day, Prof. Arun Vishwanathan, delivered an erudite lecture on Indian Strategic Thinking on Nuclear Issues and Strategies.
In the concluding session, Dr. Anuradha Choudhary, Assistant Professor and co-convener of the programme, extended her appreciation to the attendees for their active participation in the event. Dr. Neeta Rani, Head and Associate Professor, Department of National Security Studies and the convener of the programme, delivered the concluding remarks and presented the report of the event. Dr. Neeta also expressed her sincere gratitude to all the esteemed speakers for their valuable time and insightful contributions. She also expressed her gratitude to Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain for his unwavering support.
Dr. R Sudhakar, Associate Professor and co-convener of the Faculty Development Programme, delivered the formal Vote of Thanks. He conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for his steadfast support in facilitating such enlightening events. He also highlighted the contributions of the organising committee which included Dr. Ekta Manhas, Dr. Prasanta Kumar Sahu and Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma and research scholars of the department in ensuring the success of the event.
