D&FCO organises awareness programme
JAMMU, March 16: Drugs and Food Control Organization J&K organized an awareness program at Hatli Morh, Kathua on the prevention of drug abuse, Role of Pharmacists Fraternity particularly and supply of safe and efficacious medicines to the end users within the ambit of law.
The objective of the awareness programme was to strengthen action and cooperation of Pharma Fraternity in achieving a role model society free of Drug Abuse.
The awareness Programme was attended by various sections of the society particularly Prominent Citizens, Senior officers of the Department i.e State Drugs Controller, Deputy Drugs Controller , Deputy Drugs Controller ((I&L), Assistant Drugs Controller. Kathua/Samba, Assistant Drugs Controller ( HQ) Jammu , Drugs Control Officers , Member of Chemists Association of Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion, Lotika Khajuria, State Drugs Controller invited an urgent attention of Stakeholders towards this issue. She informed that the Government has initiated pro active measures by constituting District Level Monitoring Committees under NCORD to bring an end to this menace and rehabilitate the affected youth.
She said that it will go a long way in dealing with the disastrous problem within our society. She said it is important to spread awareness among people, especially the youth, against this evil.
Mohd Iqbal Palla, Deputy Drugs Controller Jammu, in his address, said that such programs definitely help to aware the common masses about the drug abuse which is destroying our future generations. He said that Kathua is a sensitive state and there remains an apprehension of influx of habit forming substances through a clandestine manner from neighboring states. He impressed upon Assistant Drugs Controller, Kathua to lay down surprise nakkas at Lakhanpur for random check of U.T Bound Consignments of Pharmaceutical Preparations.
Rajesh Anguralla, ADC Kathua informed that this programme was organized in continuation to the Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyaan which aims to reach out the masses and spread awareness about substance abuse and drug abuse.
Ramesh Monga, President Chemist Association, Kathua assured full cooperation & support of the Chemists w.r.t dispensing of drugs in accordance to the law and in the best interest of the Patient Care
