ALC Ramban releases pending PMGSY wages
RAMBAN, March 17: The Labour Department in Ramban paid over fourteen lakh rupees to construction workers whose wages were pending from the PMGSY Department.
While handing over cheques worth Rs 14,03,379 to the construction workers, Assistant Labour Commissioner Ramban, Dr Sushant Mahajan emphasised the importance of providing adequate support and guidance to construction workers working on various projects.
Dr Mahajan also highlighted various government initiatives to ensure worker welfare in the construction sector. These include health and safety measures at work sites and a database of registered workers to ensure timely and adequate support.
The ALC stated that several schemes are being run by the government for building and other construction workers’ welfare. These aim to regulate employment and service conditions while providing safety measures for registered workers.
ALC appealed to any remaining construction workers to apply for registration under J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) immediately. This would allow them to benefit from various government welfare schemes.
