Doda administration plans afforestation, other campaigns against plastic use from April
DODA, March 27: Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan held a meeting with members of the District Environment Committee to review the implementation of the District Environment Plan here today.
During the meeting, it was decided to plant trees on the bank of Bhaderwah Nallah and around all water bodies in the district. Intensive campaign against single-use plastic below 120 microns was also planned. It was decided that the Pollution Control Department and other stakeholders will carry out random checks for polythene twice a week at Assar Naka.
The District Mineral Officer informed that e-bidding for mining mineral leases is in progress and that they have intensified their crackdown on illegal mining. The DC ordered the creation of a plan to reduce the harmful effects of construction and demolition waste on the environment.
The committee discussed actions taken regarding solid waste management, domestic sewage management, e-waste and water waste management, plantation drives, medical waste and bio-medical waste. They urged educational institutions to undertake creative activities on cleanliness and waste management to protect the environment for future generations.
