Commissioner Secretary inaugurates remodeled Child Care Institution for Boys, Girls

SRINAGAR, MARCH 28: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, today inaugurated remodeled Child Care Institutions, Palash (Children Home for Boys) and Parisha (Children Home for girls) at Shalimar, here.

These homes are being run by the Department of Social Welfare wherein all facilities for children in need of care and protection are provided free of cost including boarding and lodging, education and other requisite services.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary said that the department has recently started remodeling of these institutions throughout Jammu and Kashmir in order to provide complete facilities including upgradation of infrastructure, modern sports equipments, computer labs, libraries, entertainment facilities, well equipped kitchens, engagement of tutors etc.

Sheetal Nanda informed that more than 10 such institutions have already been remodeled and the initiative shall continue during the next financial year. All Child Care Institutions run by the department shall be remodeled in order to provide home-like facilities to children enrolled there, she added.

Commissioner Secretary said that the aim is holistic development of children in every sphere i.e. education, sports, computers, music and extra curriculum activities.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Director Social Welfare, Kashmir, Mohammad Shafiq Chak, Director Planning, SWD, Executive Director, Rehabilitation, Deputy Director SWD, Kashmir, Financial Advisor, Directorate of SWD, Kashmir, District Social Welfare Officer Srinagar among others.
