Vice Chancellor JU felicitates Dr Jatinder Manhas for his outstanding contribution to Computer Science
Dr Manhas Visited Lulea University of Technology Sweden to attend advanced training to study brain Signal (EEG)
JAMMU, March 30: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai today felicitated Dr Jatinder Manhas Head, Department of Computer science, Bhaderwah Campus for his outstanding contribution to Computer Science.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged Dr Jatinder Manhas to carry on world-class research in the domain of AI. Prof. Rahul Gupta, Dean Mathematical Sciences & Rector Bhaderwah Campus and Prof. Pawnesh Abrol, Head MCA were present on the occasion. Dr. Jatinder Manhas recently visited the Lulea University of Technology Sweden to attend advanced training to study brain signals (EEG) in the field of Human Emotion Intelligence using Artificial Intelligence based techniques.
The entire training was conducted on a High computing platform equipped with DGX machines at EISALAB research group of LTU. The visit was executed to enhance and refine research capabilities in this domain and to introduce advanced research areas in the University of Jammu and to extend the research boundaries of the University of Jammu at the international Platform.
During his visit, Dr Manhas gained in-depth knowledge of the equipment and machinery to be procured and installed in the research lab of the university of Jammu for the scholars working in this domain to create state-of-the-art infrastructure for better analytics and computer vision. Dr Jatinder Manhas also explored the possibility of future collaborations with Lulea University of technology Sweden in the area of human emotional intelligence to enhance institutional reach to other Universities working in this domain and to create a joint workforce in the field of artificial intelligence keeping in view the future prospects of this ever changing field of Computer Sciences & IT.
Various common research area in computer vision has been identified and the process for entering into MOU with LTU Sweden were also explored related to scholars exchange, joint publications and organizing joint training programmes and conferences.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Marcus assures all possible help in near future and shall also act as a mentor in creating artificial intelligence-based advanced labs at the University of Jammu. He also assures providing physical as well as virtual access to High Computing Environment installed at LTU Sweden that is equipped with DGX machines for big data analytics.
The research visit was supported by the University of Jammu. Department of computer science, electrical and space engineering authorized Dr. Jatinder Manhas as Visiting Research Fellow at LTU Sweden for future research work.
