Ramban: Fisheries Department organises training programme to boost fish production

RAMBAN, APRIL 06: A training programme on ‘Technological Interventions for Fish Seed and Trout Production’ was held in Ramban. Organised by the Department of Fisheries, Department of Agriculture and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ramban, the event aimed to promote sustainable development of fisheries for nutritional security, employment generation and economic prosperity.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr Ashwani Kumar stressed the need for formulating a road map for implementing the project to achieve desirable targets and boost fish production in the district.

Assistant Director Fisheries Ramban, Fayaz Ahmed Fayaz highlighted the importance of various components of the project for harnessing the aqua-potential of Ramban district and its successful implementation.

Resource person, Rajesh Khajuria highlighted the feasibility criteria and pattern of assistance for establishing different components of the project. Participants were trained in new technology to increase fish production through fish farming and encouraged to spread awareness and help unemployed youth learn about new technologies.

The project aims to increase fish production and growth rate, strengthen social security and welfare measures for fishers and facilitate improved post-harvest practices. It was informed that the project under the scheme also includes establishing new hatcheries and upgrading existing infrastructure to boost fish production.
