DC Kishtwar reviews COVID-19 situation in district
KISHTWAR, April 06: Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav convened a meeting to review the current COVID-19 situation in the district and assess its preparedness to tackle the pandemic.
During the meeting, the Chief Medical Officer briefed the attendees about the status of COVID-19 in the district and informed them that there are currently two active cases. However, the positivity rate is low and there is no need for immediate concern. Although an increase in testing and enhanced surveillance is needed.
Dr Yadav stressed the importance of remaining vigilant and prepared for any emerging situation. He directed the Health Department to activate flu clinics and focus on increased testing of all Severe Acute Respiratory Illness and Influenza-like Illness cases.
The DC also emphasised the need for enforcing Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) to curb the spread of infection. He urged people to follow CAB guidelines, including wearing masks in hospital premises by patients, health professionals and health workers.
Furthermore, Dr Yadav urged the Executive Officer Municipal Council Kishtwar to make announcements on CAB within the limits of the Municipal Council and encourage people to wear face masks while visiting crowded places. Additionally, he advised comorbid and elderly persons to avoid overcrowded places as a precautionary measure.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Sham Lal; Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Inderjeet Singh Parihar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Varunjeet Singh Charak; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Paddar, Rishi Kumar; Chief Medical Officer, Yaqoob Mir; District Tuberculosis Officer and other concerned officials.
