A Poetry Recital Organized by The Literary Club of  “Utsaah,” the Clubs, University of Jammu

Jammu, Dec 22: The Literary Club under the aegis of “Utsaah,” the Clubs, University of Jammu showcased an extraordinary poetry recital programme in the Seminar Hall of the Department of English of the Main Campus as a part of the outreach activities being organised under the “Viksit Bharat @2047” campaign of the Government of India. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, Indian Police Services, Senior Superintendent of Police Security, Civil Secretariat, Jammu and Kashmir. The programme commenced with the felicitation of the chief guest with a token of regard.

While addressing the audience,Mr. Mohd Yaseen Kichloo lauded the commendable work on the part of The Literary Club and its spearheading body, Utsaah, the Clubs, University of Jammu, and congratulated the participants for their enamouring recital. He stressed the importance of every citizen’s participation in realising the dream of a developed nation. The young, in particular, would prove to be the beneficiaries and agents of a “viksit” future of India.

Earlier in her formal welcome address, Prof. Satnam Kour Raina, Chairperson, Utsaah, the Clubs, and Head, Department of Psychology, University of Jammu acknowledged the initiative of Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club and Associate Professor, Department of English, and lauded her for organising the poetry recitation programme of December 22, 2023. She highlighted the importance of educational institutions and organisations such as The Literary Club and its parent body, “Utsaah” in undertaking such initiatives that facilitate exponential strides in the development of not just individuals but the nation and society as a whole. She heartily congratulated each and everyone who participated and helped make the programme a phenomenal success. Later, Prof. Satnam Kour Raina, Chairperson, Utsaah formally introduced Mr. Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Security, Civil Secretariat, J&K, to the audience.

The participants who studded the afternoon with their poetry recitations were from across the departments of the University of Jammu. The performances that remained the most appreciated amongst a plethora of excellent readings were those by the participants from the departments such as the Department of MCA, the Department of Punjabi, the Department of English, the Department of Psychology, the Department of Urdu, and the students of the Design Your Degree Programme (DYD), namely, Harshit Kour, Suraiya Bano, Suhani Behl, Garima Sharma, Paridhi Mahajan, Bhoomi Samnotra, Malhar Khadyal, Radhey Sharma, Narayan Choudhary, Pawandeep Singh, Shubham Sharma, Manjot Singh, and Sarnish Kour.The programme ended with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
