“AAP MLAs involved with tanker mafias..” BJP workers stage protest against AAP over water crisis in Delhi

New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The Bhartiya Janata party workers on Friday staged a massive protest against Aam Aadmi party over water crisis in the national capital, stating that the MLAs of AAP are involved with Tanker mafias in Delhi.

The demonstration march was conducted by the BJP from Shahidi Park to the Delhi secretariat.

As the Aam Aadmi Party approached the Supreme Court regarding the water crisis in Delhi, the BJP leaders argued that the AAP was profiting from selling water and accused them of exploiting the residents of the capital city.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva while protesting against the AAP said, “The water crisis in Delhi is a result of mismanagement of the Aam Aadmi Party. With statistics, I can prove that Delhi is receiving water from Haryana. They are imposing a fine of Rs 2000, it’s not a fine but another way of doing corruption. Their water gets wasted because they cannot keep it safely. They are just lifting the Tanker mafias in Delhi. Wrong entries of tankers will be added to the list. There is no shortage of water in Delhi, they just don’t have intentions to provide water”.

“Every MLA of Arvind Kejriwal is involved in selling water along with Tanker mafias. The water which should be provided for free to the people of Delhi that is being sold,” he added.

BJP leader & candidate from New Delhi constituency Bansuri Swaraj also hit out at the AAP government for the water shortage in Delhi and accused the party of propagating tanker mafias by creating an “artificial water crisis”.

“AAP government has created an artificial water crisis. Delhi Jal Board made a profit of Rs. 600 crores in 2013. Currently, it is in the loss of Rs. 73,000 crores. Arvind Kejriwal’s government should be held accountable. It is the same government which promised free water,” Swaraj said while speaking to ANI.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking additional water supply from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh for one month.

The petition states, ‘The need for water in Delhi has increased significantly due to the severe heatwave. It is everyone’s responsibility to fulfil the needs of the capital city”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged the BJP to keep politics aside as the capital faces an imminent water crisis.

Kejriwal on Friday made an appeal to the centre and the BJP to urge the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to help Delhi meet its water demand.

“I see that BJP colleagues are protesting against us. This will not solve the problem. I request everyone with folded hands that instead of doing politics at this time, let us come together and provide relief to the people of Delhi. If the BJP talks to its governments in Haryana and UP and gets some water for Delhi for a month, then the people of Delhi will greatly appreciate this step of the BJP. Such scorching heat is not in anyone’s control. But if we all work together, can we provide relief to the people from this?” Kejriwal wrote in a post on X.
