ACB, Reasi Administration conduct workshop regarding Vigilance awareness

REASI, AUGUST 10: As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2024, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Udhampur-Reasi Range, in collaboration with the District Administration Reasi, organized a comprehensive workshop and seminar at the Auditorium Hall of the DC Administrative Complex Reasi, to eradicate corruption and increasing Public accountability and service delivery.


SSP ACB Mohammad Rashid Bhat, ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh Samyal, DVO (ADC) Reasi Kul Bhushan Khajuria, PO ICDS Mohd. Anwar Bandey, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACD Pardeep Kumar, ACR Anshumali Sharma, XEns, Principals GDC Reasi, GHSS Boys/Girls Reasi and Other District/Sectoral Officers/Officials were present on the occasion.


Dy. SP ACB Gurmeet Singh served as the main resource person for the seminar. Through a detailed Powerpoint presentation, he elaborated on the various forms of corruption, preventive vigilance measures as per the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines and the procedure for the public to lodge complaints against public servants. He also delved into the causes and consequences of corruption, urging the participants to be proactive in their vigilance.


The DVO Reasi Kul Bhushan Khajuria illustrated the pervasive nature of corruption by citing real-life examples, such as instances of bribery in government offices, embezzlement of public funds, fraudulent billings and the manipulation of records. He highlighted how these acts of corruption undermine public trust in the government institutions and have far-reaching negative effects on society.


ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh Samyal further expanded on the discussion by categorizing different types of corruption, including collusive and cohesive corruption. He explored the root causes, such as complex regulations, lack of transparency and the creation of artificial scarcity, while also addressing the severe consequences that include economic distortions and a deteriorating work culture.


SSP ACB Mohammad Rashid Bhat called on all attendees to serve as vigilant allies in the ongoing fight against corruption. He emphasized the critical role of embracing e-governance and technological reforms to enhance public service delivery and to ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards.


The workshop concluded with a collective call to action, urging all district officers and the general public to actively participate in the fight against corruption, thereby contributing to the creation of a transparent and accountable governance system.
