ADC Leh holds meeting to discuss arrangements for Muharram

Leh, July 19:  To review and discuss the necessary arrangements for the observance of Muharram, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor chaired a meeting today at his office chamber.

ADC, Leh instructed the concerned officers of different line departments to make all the necessary arrangements as per past practices in consultation with the Serath Committee.

He directed the PDD and PHE departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and drinking water.

Discussing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sanitation during the month of Muharram, ADC, Leh instructed the Municipal Committee to ensure proper sanitation pre and post-Ashura observance. Further, he instructed the Municipal Committee, Leh to repair all the streetlights in the market area.

The meeting also discussed the need for efficient traffic management plans, designated procession routes, and proper deployment of law enforcement personnel to ensure the smooth flow of processions while minimizing any inconvenience to residents and commuters.

They also highlighted the significance of medical services during Muharram processions. ADC Leh stressed the need for medical teams and first aid stations strategically placed along the routes to provide immediate assistance if required. Ensuring the well-being of participants and the availability of prompt medical attention emerged as a top priority for the organizing committee.

ADC Leh also requested the religious heads to submit the schedule of the program at the earliest. He assured full support from the District Administration.

Heads and representatives of religious organizations, such as Anjuman-e-Imamia, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Anjuman Sofia Noorbakshia, Anjuman Imamia Women Wings along with the HoDs of various departments attended the meeting.
