ADC Poonch reviews arrangements for upcoming Baisakhi festival
POONCH, April 01: Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik chaired a meeting with district officers and stakeholders today at the DC Office Complex to discuss arrangements for the upcoming Baisakhi festival. The meeting focussed on various arrangements related to security, safe drinking water, power supply, barricading, first-aid, sanitation, and checking of rates.
The Management Committee raised various issues related to the arrangements for Baisakhi and sought adequate security arrangements for the Baisakhi Mela held at the Shrine every year with traditional fervour and gaiety. District heads of various departments were given directions to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective departments.
During the meeting, it was decided that the PDD and PHE departments should provide adequate power and potable water supply, while the EO municipality should repair all damaged streetlights and install more lights as per the need. The ARTO Poonch was asked to maintain smooth traffic movement along the route of the Shrine, while the authorities of the CA&FCS department were directed to keep available essential commodities as per the need and to ensure effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism.
The police officers were also asked to ensure fool proof security arrangements during the festivals. The ADC directed all district officers to work together to finalise necessary arrangements well before the festival begins.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi; Tehsildar Poonch, Anjum Khan Khattak; Tehsildar (HQ), ARTO Poonch Basharat Mahmood; DIO Poonch, Vishal Deep Chandan and various district officers/officials of concerned departments besides the members of Dera Nangali Sahib Management Committee.
