ADDC Reasi chairs District Road Safety Committee meet
REASI, APRIL 08: A meeting of the District Road Safety (DRS) Committee was held on Saturday to discuss road safety issues in the district. The meeting was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner, Jyoti Salathia.
The meeting discussed the enforcement of traffic rules, road safety activities and upgrading the trauma care centre. Issues such as providing transportation facilities on unserved routes, restoring transport services on vital routes and improving road infrastructure were also discussed.
Jyoti Salathia spoke about the need for effective implementation of measures to make roads safe for travel and minimise road mishaps, injuries and deaths. She called for spreading mass awareness about safety rules and taking corrective measures to make roads safe for commuters. She also stressed on the need for concerned officers to take measures to decongest city roads and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
The ADDC asked stakeholders to submit their Action Taken Report (ATR) and directed officials to improve road safety and infrastructure. She emphasised the need to educate the public about road safety rules and directed the ARTO Reasi to formulate a plan with stakeholders for raising awareness. For strict enforcement of traffic rules, the ADDC asked authorities to carry out special drives and take action against violators. She also directed the CEO Reasi municipality to tackle the menace of stray animals that cause traffic obstruction.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Anshumali Sharma; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rajesh Gupta; Executive Engineer Public Works Department (PWD) Reasi, Rajesh Sharma; ExEn PWD Katra, Ashwin Kumar; ExEn PMGSY, Ghulam Rasool and other members were present in the meeting.
