ADM imposes Rs. 50,000 fine on erring trader & edible oil manufacturer for sub-standard products

RAMBAN, JULY 18: Out of Seven cases reviewed, by Additional District Magistrate Ramban (ADM), Varunjeet Singh Charak, who also serves as Adjudicating Officer Ramban, two were decided with imposing Rs. 50000 penalties levied against the Trader, including Edible Soyabean Oil Manufacturer, M/S Spire Industries SIDCO Bari Brahmana Jammu, for the sale & Manufacturing of sub-standard Edible Oil. These violations are in direct contravention of the FSS Act-2006. Other cases were deferred to the next hearing due to the absence of respondents.


This enforcement action targeted multiple manufacturers, wholesale dealers, and retailers found to be violating the provisions of the FSS Act-2006.


This action is part of a robust enforcement drive aimed at ensuring compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 (FSS Act-2006) and to provide the consumers with the quality and standard edible items. The ADM, acting as the Adjudicating Officer, underscored the importance of adhering to the legal standards governing the food and pharmaceutical industries. The ADM issued strict warnings to the offending Food Business Operators (FBOs), directing them to comply rigorously with the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated regulations. He cautioned that any future violations would result in even more severe penalties.
