Administrative Secretary of Disaster Management, Relief, Rescue, and Rehabilitation, UT Ladakh Amit Sharma conducts a visit to the Emergency Operation Centre

LEH, January 12: The Administrative Secretary of Disaster Management, Relief, Rescue, and Rehabilitation, UT Ladakh, Amit Sharma visited the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) at Upper Tukcha, Leh yesterday and undertook a comprehensive evaluation of the Center’s capabilities and functionalities. The highlight of the visit was a live demonstration and performance check of the Quick Deployment Antennas (QDAs) by the adept EOC team and the operations of the Centre wherein the public of the UT connects for help in case of Emergencies of all kinds.

Administrative Secretary Amit Sharma witnessed firsthand the rapid deployment and seamless functionality of the Quick Deployment Antennas. He emphasized the critical role in ensuring communication during emergencies.

Amit also mentioned that in the next phase, the UT Administration shall go for setting up a Comprehensive Command and Control Centre which shall help in detecting occurrences of natural disasters with the help of sensors, and public alert systems and take precautionary measures to minimize loss of precious human lives and property in the UT.

Amit Sharma also lauded the efforts of the EOC team for their proficiency in handling the Quick Deployment Antennas at the Center and commended the Center as world-class. He underscored the importance of such cutting-edge technologies in disaster management and relief efforts, acknowledging the essential role played by the EOC in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

The Administrative Secretary stated Emergency Operation Centre, at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and innovation, will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, setting a new standard for operational excellence. The state-of-the-art facilities within the Operation Centre are designed to enhance efficiency, responsiveness, and overall operational capabilities, he added.

As UT Ladakh continues to enhance its disaster management capabilities, the EOC stands as an example of preparedness, ready to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency that may arise, the Secretary stated.
