Adv. Purnima Sharma, Spokesperson BJP J&K and former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, strongly criticized National Conference (NC) leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah for his baseless allegations against the BJP-led Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). She emphasized that the BJP JMC has brought unprecedented development and transformation to Jammu, setting benchmarks for progress and governance.
Purnima Sharma accompanied by Balbir Ram Rattan, spokesperson, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Media Secretary, and Rajneesh Jain Incharge Dept of Publications was addressing in a Press Conference at BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Highlighting the achievements under the BJP-led JMC, Adv. Purnima Sharma credited the leadership for turning Jammu into a Smart City, with projects aimed at urban development, improved infrastructure, and citizen-friendly initiatives.

The Tawi Riverfront Development Project, inspired by the Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, is being developed to promote tourism and serve as a recreational hub under the Smart City initiative.
A walkway along the banks of the Ranbir Canal, enhancing accessibility and offering a serene space for citizens, has been developed as part of urban beautification efforts.
Diversion of the Nallah starting from Bahu Fort to Channi and covering other areas under a comprehensive Sewage Treatment Project, addressing sanitation and water management.
Development of a vertical garden under the city flyover, providing an aesthetic and eco-friendly enhancement to urban spaces.
Deployment of modern machinery for cleaning Jammu city, ensuring higher standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Establishment of open gyms in all wards of Jammu city, promoting health and fitness for all residents.
Installation of over 60,000 street lights, significantly improving illumination and safety across the city.
Implementation of the Gondola project connecting Peer Kho to Bahu Fort, boosting connectivity and tourism.
Installation of a musical fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu, creating a new attraction for tourists and locals alike.
Equal and inclusive development across all wards of Jammu city, ensuring no area or community is left behind.
Adv. Sharma also pointed out that initiatives under the BJP’s leadership had significantly enhanced revenue collection, making the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) self-sustaining. Transparency and efficiency in JMC’s operations were also prioritized, along with improved garbage collection systems.
She reiterated that the transformation of Jammu into a Smart City is a testament to the BJP’s commitment to modernization and progress. Projects such as the Tawi Riverfront, Ranbir Canal Walkway, and urban beautification efforts reflect the party’s vision for making Jammu a model city in the Union Territory.
She enumerated various steps taken for the Beautification of Jammu like Open Gyms, Intelligent Traffic Management System, Multi Level Parking at Panjtirthi, Revenue Management, Building Permission, Enforcement of Building Bye Laws, Integrated Command and Control Centre.
In conclusion, Adv. Purnima Sharma lambasted the National Conference for its failure to deliver on its promises during its decades of rule. She asserted, “The NC, despite ruling J&K for over 60 years, could not bring transparency, equitable development, or modernization. In stark contrast, the BJP has not only worked tirelessly to fulfill its promises but also laid the foundation for a prosperous and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.”
