Advisor tracks progress and issues on 13 GW Ladakh Solar Project
LEH, Aug 4: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting in the presence of CEC/ Chairman, LAHDC Leh Tashi Gyalson on issues regarding the 13 GW Renewable Energy Project at Pang, Leh, and also discussed demands submitted by LAHDC Leh to be achieved as part of the project.
Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) gave a detailed presentation on the proposed 13 GW Renewable Energy project in Leh (9 GW Solar, 4 GW wind with 12 GW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and spoke of the background, its features, the current status of the project, identified land parcels (indicative) at Pang-Debring-Kharnak, pre-tendering site studies, mandatory environmental impact assessment of the project, scientific disposal of the waste generated from the project, job opportunities for residents of Kharnak, samad-Rokchan, Sumdo, Sumdo (TR), Korzok, Tegaxong, Angkung, Chumur, Chumur (TR).
Discussions were held on aspects such as giving priority to locals in employment opportunities, giving preference to local contractors, proper management of waste produced during the project, providing relevant technical training to the locals, etc.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh highlighted the delay in project implementation and requested a written commitment from the agency so that the project is completed in the stipulated time frame.
Advisor Ladakh urged the agency to set doable targets and work towards its timely progress.
Administrative Secretary PDD Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Leh Santosh Sukhdeva and concerned officers & representatives were present during the meeting.
