Agriculture Department Jammu celebrates World Soil Day
JAMMU, December 05: The Directorate of Agriculture today organised a function here at Kissan Kendra , Talab Tillo , Jammu to celebrate World Soil Day, in which more than 50 farmers participated
The objective of the Programme is to sensitize stakeholders including Farmers, Officers and others to generate awareness amongst the society to help protect the Soil Health. The programme was organized by the Agriculture Chemist & Soil Survey Sections of the Directorate.
Ram Savak , Director Agriculture Jammu graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Director Agriculture Jammu while addressing farmers emphasised upon conservation of soil & water resources through agronomic & mechanical measures for sustained Crop production .He impressed upon farmers for prevention of the stubble burning by making use of super seeders in sowing of Wheat Crop in Combine Harvested Paddy fields.
Aman Jyoti, Agriculture Chemist in his welcome address explained the objective of organizing World Soil Day.He advised the farmers to use Chemical Fertilizers only on the recommendations of the Agriculture experts of the department and apply the fertilizers as per the Soil Health Cards recommendations.
Suresh Khajuria, Divisional Soil Survey Officer in his address gave a brief overview of working of Soil Survey Wing in Jammu Division.
Neeraj Rajwal, Assistant Soil Chemist gave detailed presentation on working of Soil Testing Scheme in Jammu division.He also suggested some remedial measures for maintaining soil health including Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) of the soil by incorporating the organic manures and inorganic fertilizers in an appropriate ratio.
Rajeev Katoch , Programme Officer conducted proceedings of the Programme.
The Officers including Joint Director of Agriculture ( Extension) R.K.Hitaishi, Dy. Director Training, Alok Pandotra, Agriculture Economist Jograj Slathia, ARE, Jammu Er. Viney Bhardwaj and other Senior Officers were also present on the occasion.
The similar programmes regarding world soil health day were also held in the different districts of Jammu Division.
