AHD Jammu launches Mobile Veterinary Units to provide Veterinary services at farmers’ doorsteps
JAMMU, AUGUST 22: Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu Dr. Shubhra Sharma today inaugurated Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) in an impressive function organized here at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Talab Tillo Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director said that these MVUs have been procured under the scheme Establishment and Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries (ESVHD) and will operate in districts of Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Doda and Rajouri to cater to the needs of farmers and livestock owners by providing veterinary health care to their animals at their doorsteps and shall especially benefit those areas which lack veterinary facilities or face shortage of manpower.
She further said that these units have been fabricated with state of art veterinary healthcare facilities for providing accurate diagnosis and quality treatment on the spot to the ailing livestock. “Mobile Veterinary Units shall also provide artificial insemination services including sex-sorted semen technology for breed improvement in local cattle in addition to veterinary healthcare in the region of their operations’’, she added.
Elaborating upon the mode of operation of the MVUs she explained that these units shall be operated through call centres over helpline no. ‘1962’ and farmers in case of any emergency will make calls to these call centres and treatment shall be provided by a team of a Veterinary Doctor and a Para-vet manning these MVUs operating nearest to the needy farmer.
CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dr. Raman Kumar Gupta, senior officers and officials from the Directorate of Animal Husbandry office complex, officers from the Livestock Development Board Jammu besides representatives of various media agencies were also present on the occasion.
