AICTE partners with Jio Institute to launch an innovative Faculty Development Programme on AI and Data Science
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 18 (ANI): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has collaborated with the Jio Institute to introduce a 5-day Faculty Development Programme on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science.
This collaboration is part of AICTE’s ATAL (AICTE Training and Learning) initiative, designed to empower and upgrade faculty members from AICTE-approved institutions.
Set against the backdrop of the Jio Institute, renowned for its AI and Data Science program, the 5-day residential Faculty Development Programme here will unfold as an immersive learning experience, according to a press release.
The program is poised to commence with an inaugural event led by AICTE Chairman Prof T G Sitharam on August 21.
The primary goal of this partnership is to equip academic leaders and senior faculty members with an in-depth comprehension of AI and Data Science, with an emphasis on ethical considerations surrounding the application of AI tools in education, the release said.
AICTE Chairman Sitharam stated, “This partnership with Jio Institute exemplifies our commitment to nurturing cutting-edge education that equips our Faculty members for future challenges. It enables us to provide educators with the necessary skills to navigate intricate educational landscapes, thereby emphasizing our resolve towards academic excellence”.
The curriculum of the program spans a wide spectrum of topics including Data Visualization, Natural Language Processing, Time Series & Optimization, Generative AI, Applications, and Large Language Models.
The program will explore the far-reaching impacts of AI and data sciences across various sectors, ranging from science and engineering to healthcare and liberal arts, the release said.
The program will be conducted by a distinguished panel of global experts and educators, featuring Dr G Ravichandran, Dr Ravee Chittoor and Dr Nilay Yajnik from Jio Institute, along with Dr Shailesh Kumar (AI COE, Jio), Prof Vishnuprasad Nagadevara (Former Dean, IIM Bangalore), Dr Larry Birnbaum (Northwestern University, USA), Jayen Thakker (ex-Tableau and IBM), and Prasad Joshi (AI COE, Jio).

The program will conclude on August 25 with an engaging discussion on the application of AI in arts and heritage, followed by a visit to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre and other heritage sites in South Mumbai.
Jio Institute was established by the Reliance Group. It offers postgraduate courses in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Digital Marketing & Media Communications, and Sports Management.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was founded in November 1945 as a national-level Apex Advisory Body. Its purpose is to conduct surveys on technical education facilities and promote development across the country in a coordinated and integrated manner.
